What were the biggest factors in high school that helped you achieve the greatest advantage into getting into one of the top in state schools? Did you do any programs or clubs at Booker that helped? Also, what advice do you give for someone to get good and sufficient scholarship money?
I honestly don't know- it's getting more and more competitive every year, so I'm not sure whether or not what I did in high school then would help me get into FSU now, BUT! I HIGHLY encourage everyone to ask your teachers for help and assistance! They are there to help you grow into the person you want to be and figure out what you want to do after high school. Ask for rec letters as early as possible- don't wait till the week before, haha!
So did I do any programs or clubs in high school..? Not really, haha! I was in the VPA program and that took up most of my time. But I did make sure to get a lot of service hours! My friends in I sang for events around town for free and we were able to rack up a lot of hours.
Scholarships! I actually can't speak to those too much. I have the highest level of Bright Futures and Fl Pre-Paid! Definitely work hard for Bright Futures - that was my saving grace. I know some people that got a decent chunk from the Community Foundation Scholarship, so maybe look into that.
Hey y’all! I’m Sarah Johnson and I graduated from Booker in 2018. I am currently in my third year at Florida State University. I am a Theatre major earning a B.A. degree (I can help you distinguish between B.A. and B.F.A. degrees and help you decide what’s best for you). After I graduate, I’m hoping to start my acting career in film/TV and/or theatre (hopefully both!) in somewhere like Atlanta or Chicago. I also know a little bit about the filmmaking program. Rooting for you!
@Ethan L I mean- absolutely! It's a big school so there are so many opportunities and things to get involved in. For example, I'm in theatre, but I also get to interact with the film school (they always need actors) and I'm in Seminole Tap Troupe - the only tap troupe on campus. There are soooo many clubs and student orgs. I can answer other specific questions you have about it as well! And good luck :)
@muttigiacomo That's awesome that this is something your interested in! There are so many student run organizations and clubs. Every fall FSU hosts the Involvement Fair where there are a ton of orgs have each have a booth and you can get to know them (it's virtual now, but we still had one last semester). If there's anything specific as well, do let me know!

Should I apply to Bright Futures just in case I do not get the AICE Diploma?
If I do dual enrollment and get some credits towards my Associates Degree, is it possible to go into college as a sophomore rather than a junior?
