I studied Political Science at the University of Central Florida, and while each university has their own requirements, at UCF there were only two mandatory courses, American History and a Methods course. Then, depending on what track you are interested in (pre-law, international relations, or government) you take classes within those tracks to earn your total required credits. I took classes ranging from Constitutional Law to Politics of the Middle East, its a good time to figure out what area of the law you're most interested in.
Political Science is the study of governance and politics. However, within a political science degree there are often different tracks you can choose from and then take classes within that track (such as pre-law, government, or international affairs). In order to earn your degree there are a few required classes within the major, general education requirements, and then a credit requirement wherein you choose which classes interest you most. Most political science classes are founded on lots of reading and writing.
